Easy DIY Project: Make Your Very Own Terracotta Smoker!
If you love organizing parties and get-togethers over the summer months, you know how important it is to serve great food. Cooking outdoors is more appealing during the hot summer months, but you would need to have something to actually cook on! You are probably not willing to spend hundreds of dollars on a smoker, so why not do one yourself? Here is how you can go about it:
Assembling the parts
- Unglazed terracotta pots
- Burner
- Heating element
- Grilling skillet
- Small saucepan
Buy these stuffs on Amazon
and some basic tools and accessories, you can make this happen! Any handles from the grilling skillet and the saucepan should be removed so that they can fit in the pot. Then, you basically just have to start stacking the heating element over the base container, and place the chip container right over it, and finally the food grill on top.
Here you need to make sure that the power cord plug fits tightly – a couple of slits should do the job. The top pot can finally be placed, right on top of everything. The thermometer has to be attached to it.
To avoid the problem of not having a setting to adjust the hot plate, you can also have a hot plate control. All you have to do is to drill a small hole in the pot. Since it is made from terracotta make sure to drill really slowly, but rest assured it can be done without breaking it.
