She Began By Just Destroying This Cake… By The End, I Was Blown Away
Bursting with color and flavor, the rainbow checkerboard cake is definitely not your average dessert, and what makes it stand out is the fact that it is both visually appealing and delicious! Here you will find out more about how you can bake it, quickly and without too much effort:
Step 1: Gather The Ingredients
For the rainbow checkerboard cake you will need:
- Homemade butter cream frosting
- Food coloring
- Six bowls
- Some non-stick spray
- Flour
- Milk
- Two eggs
- Butter
You will also need some layer pans, as they will help you lay down the mixture smoothly and evenly!
Step 2: Start Mixing The Ingredients!
Mix the eggs, flour and milk and then divide the mixture into six different bowls (one different color for each!). Add a fair amount of food coloring and mix everything thoroughly. Once you are done, lay down the mixture onto the layer pans (you must spray them with the non-stick spray first), then put them in the oven for 15 minutes. Let all the layers cool completely and then put them in the freezer for about an hour.

Cut the top of the layers off, flip them over and then cut off the bottom as well. Make sure to trim all the brown edges, then stack all the layers one on top of another and then cut them with a round metal cutter.
Remember that you need to end up with two big hollow circles, and one cute small circle – after that, add a thin layer of the butter cream on the inside of the circles and then alternate the circles. Stack all of them one on top of the other again, add some extra butter cream frosting on the sides of the cake and you are good to go!
